Questions:
1) What does “life” mean here?
2) I don’t think “to the place belong” is grammatically correct. What should it be?
3) Should “mountain momma” be “Mountain Momma”, “mountain Momma” or what? I guess “mountain momma”(without capital letters) is not correct. What do you think?

I think “Mountain Momma” should be “Momma Mountain”, just like Uncle Mike. Besides, why did the writer say “mountain momma”? What does that mean?
The first thing to keep in mind, is that this is lyrical writing; one should not expect the kind of formal English that one finds in essays and the like.
1) The phrase ‘life is old there’ means that the writer senses deep cultural roots – people have been living in the area for a long time with little change in their values, ways, and attitudes. In that sense, ‘life’ is short for ‘our way of life.’
2) Read again – it says, “To the place *I* belong” – which is a shortened form of ‘to the place [where] I belong’ – again, this isn’t supposed to be rigidly formal writing.
3) ‘Mountain momma’ is a metaphorical phrase, not a proper noun. Therefore it has no need for capitalization.
