It’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver, about 1971. Because of the lyrics, the song’s strongly associated with the state of West Virginia. but Denver and co-writer Bill Danoff wrote the song in the waiting room of a New York hospital, and used the name “West Virginia” just because it fit the meter of the song. John Denver had never even been in West Virginia until he played a charity concert in 1985.
Other songs by him? You can find lots of places that list his hits, so I’ll not bother. But of the obscure songs, how about “Wild Montana Skies”
Fleet Foxes – Blue Ridge Mountains (2008) Essen, Germany
