On The Blue Ridge Mountain
National Parks in USA gets more than 275 million visitors every year, especially in summer, the parks are over-crowded. If you want to enjoy the nature and dream of scaling Yosemite’s Half Dome, whitewater rafting through the Grand Canyon, and driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, there is no need to worry.
To get away from the hustle and to see some scenic spots, it will be advisable to park your vehicle and wander inside on your own. Most of the scenic places are located quite nearby to the places where the bus or car tours go but somehow people don’t tend to explore further and hence miss out on these great spots.
The Denali National Park is found about 380 kms to the north of Anchorage in Alaska. The park covers an area of 24,585 km² and is where you will find Mount McKinley (called Denali by the native Alaskans). This is the tallest mountain on the North American continent at 6,194 metres. Some of the wildlife found in the park includes grizzly and black bears, caribou and moose, and such smaller animals as the arctic squirrel, the snowshoe hare and a few others.
The long sea coast provides the nesting ground for sea turtles’ the back waters of Pulicat Lake are the feeding grounds for Flamingo and Grey Pelican; the estuaries of river Godavari and Krishna support mangrove vegetation. The state has some rare and endemic plants like Cycas beddomei, Pterocarpus santalinus, Terminalia pallida, Syzygium alternifolium, Shorea talura, Shored tumbuggaia, Psilotum nudam etc.
Besides the bears there about sixty other kinds of mammal living in Glacier National Park. These include mysterious creatures like the northern bog lemming, elk, grey wolf, lynx, cougar, wolverine and mountain goat in a mix of animals that is unique in the USA. Walking here is a privilege because of the chance to see these wonderful animals and this amazing environment.
The monument has a visitor center that houses museum exhibits highlighting archaeological and natural specimens. There is also an auditorium and book sale outlet. It is interesting to note that the park has no roads despite of eleven miles of hiking trails. Even if there are great natural features in this park, they have no lodging or camping facilities. Visitors would have to lodge or camp in the nearby parks.
